The Benefits of Science and Technology

Science

Science and technology are one of the greatest contributions of mankind, but like all great discoveries, it has also brought along some negative aspects. One example of this can be found in the current Iraq war. The US and its allies are using science and technology to target and kill terrorists who do not want to lay down their lives fighting for a cause. But in the process of killing these alleged terrorists, the science and technology that they use are also causing serious damage to the already fragile ecosystem of Iraq.

How do we know that the technology being used by the military is being used for good?

One way of figuring out this is to look at how the Gulf War started. It started with precision targeting by U.S. coalition forces using laser-fire weapons. These weapons are highly expensive and accurate. One of the many unintended side effects of these weapons is the release of a type of toxic chemicals known as depleted uranium into the environment. These toxins have been linked to birth defects, cancer, and other health disorders.

Another problem is the effects on the environment: As more scientists point out, the high precision nature of the weaponry used causes a release of toxic gases into the environment. At the same time, this weaponry also has a lot of harmful effects on the natural environment. The pollutants caused by depleted uranium can cause water contamination, which is a problem in major cities like Los Angeles.

The other problem is that the United States: is one of the biggest users of science and technology in the world. We rely heavily on this technology for everything from roadways to space travel. This means that when this technology is used incorrectly or is improperly disposed of, it can have harmful effects on the environment. For example, the fuel that is used to power our cars can cause huge imbalances in the environment when it is washed into water, landfills, and other places.

There are many other technologies: that have also proven to be harmful to us. One of these is the development of genetically modified crops. The unintended consequences of this technology has led to opposition against it. Other technologies that are being used today include weapons systems that are capable of shooting down incoming missiles. If these systems are not properly maintained or if faulty parts are used, there is a great risk that these weapons will fall into the wrong hands. This can be particularly problematic in a conflict zone where international law may not yet apply.

Although science and technology: may be wonderful inventions, they still have limitations. They are only as useful as we make them. By thinking about the ways in which science and technology may be used in your life, you can see that it can provide benefits even beyond what you might have originally thought. This is science and technology at its best: helping people find answers to their questions and help shape the way in which society and the economy operate.
